What is personal responsibility? What I interpret from the phrase "personal responsibility" is knowing when to take responsibility for ones actions and being responsible for what one does. Personal is something of, affecting, or belonging to a particular person rather than to anyone else while, responsibility is the state or fact of being accountable or to blame for something. When put together I believe personal responsibility is being able to look yourself in the mirror and say "I did this and I will be help accountable for it, no matter what the consequences may be". When one is able to conquer this then they have taken full responsibility for their actions in the most efficient and mature way.
There are many situations in everyday life where people do not know when it is the right time take full responsibility; not just because they can't but even because they simply do not know when they are truly responsible for the event that has take place. For example many car accidents happen everyday. In fact some people drive around waiting to get rear ended or hit just for a new car, or a lump some of money. People will really put themselves and others in danger for selfish reasons. Not all crashes are done purposely, actually very few are and the hardest part when dealing with a crash is knowing who is completely responsible. Accident cases are taken to court and go through so many systems until the court decides who was guilty because know one wants or knows when to take personal responsibility. Today many people get away from these charges because the court system could be wrong or their could be a false incident report. This is when taking personal responsibility comes in.
How does one know when to take personal responsibility? In cases like the car accident there are a few different ways to take personal responsibility. One, a person could tell the honest truth about how the incident occurred and take complete responsibility and pay the price to repair the damage done to the car and or the people in it. This would be an example of accepting your responsibility's and paying the consequences. Another way to take responsibility would be to follow the law. For example there are rules like, the driver who rear ends another vehicle is always guilty. If this were the case the court would automatically force the law and make that driver personally responsible. This would not be what I would call one taking personal responsibility but because that person is held accountable by law the responsibility is forced upon them.
There are many ways a person could take personal responsibility, it all depends on the situation. I believe taking personal responsibility is a very mature way to approach a situation before it gets out of hand. Also taking responsibility for ones actions will always be a great way to prevent any feeling of guilt that could come along down the road. Taking person responsibility is realizing, knowing, and taking complete fault ones doings.
